Kushida Shrine

It is affectionately known as 'Okushida-san' by the locals. Many people visit here to pray for prosperity in business, health, and longevity. It is also known as the central shrine of the annual Hakata Gion Yamakasa festival, held every July, and this festival is registered as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. Within the temple grounds, luxurious decorative yamakasas are on display, allowing you to experience Hakata's traditional culture up close. Although located in the heart of the city, it offers a quiet and calm atmosphere where you can experience Japanese history and culture. (Photo courtesy of Fukuoka City)
